Reflections 2020: I Matter Because…
The Reflections Program is an annual National PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to express themselves using their creative talents through their own original works. Each year has a different theme. The 2020-2021 theme is “I Matter Because…”
Reflections helps kids take risks, be inspired, think creatively, receive positive recognition, and be celebrated for their works of art. It also allows our community to celebrate creativity in our students! Click here to see last year’s Council-level results Past Reflections Results
This year, like everything else, Reflections is going all-digital. Please read on for details. Questions, contact Danielle Dolbec at Reflections@maywoodhillspta.com

How It Works
The first round is the “Maywood” round. Students will create their work AND write a short artist statement on the entry form. Judging looks at the artist statement (50%), creativity (25%) and technique (25%).
From there, we can send up to 20 total submissions across all categories plus 6 special artist submissions to the next round of judging. Those students’ works of art are considered Council Qualifiers and will be celebrated at a district open house in January. Council will judge the pieces in each category and some pieces will continue onto State PTA for further judging.
Regardless of where a student places, our PTA will celebrate all Maywood student artists who submit a piece of art for Reflections. Students can submit in 1 or all categories, but only 1 entry per category.
