  • Interested in volunteering to be an art docent? Please email artdocent@maywoodhillspta.com

The Art Docent Program is a quality arts literacy enrichment program provided by volunteers that visit the classroom each month to introduce children (and teachers) to the wonders of art appreciation. Art Docent volunteers facilitate a range of program goals including:

To expand children’s ability to form definitions of their visual world.

To examine elements of art that the children can apply to their own creative endeavors.

To establish the legitimacy of art as a critical part of the basic curriculum

  • The Science Docent Program is a fun science enrichment program provided by volunteers that visit the classroom as often as once a month to introduce children (and teachers) to interactive lessons and hands-on experiments that might coincide with current curriculum or can even reach outside the scope of lessons being taught in the classroom.

Interested in volunteering to be a science docent? Please email sciencedocent@maywoodhillspta.com.

  • The Staff Appreciation Committee does our best to make sure our Maywood Hills staff feels encouraged and backed by the entire Maywood Hills family–students, parents and the surrounding community.

Volunteer sign up sheets are posted on the PTA newsletter, PTA facebook page and in the Maywood S’more updates. Please be on the lookout for these opportunities to help out and donate food or other goodies to the Staff Appreciation events.

If you want an even easier way of showing your “Thanks!” to our amazing teachers, consider browsing their School Supply Wishlists. A recent survey revealed that the average teacher spends $468 of their own money on back to school supplies each year, so if you’re able let’s help them out this year!

If you have questions, ideas or want to help in another way please contact Mary at pachelbeli05@yahoo.com.
