Our Washington State mission is for PTA to be:

  • A powerful voice for children,

  • A relevant resource for families, schools and communities, and

  • A strong advocate for the well-being and education of all children.

When you join your local Parent Teacher Association (PTA) or Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), you become part of our state association and the larger National PTA. Your voice joins tens of thousands across Washington and millions across the United States, including the U.S. Virgin Islands, Europe and Puerto Rico, as advocates for children.

Our 3 Pillars

  • Support enrichment opportunities to build community and promote inclusion

  • Invest in and prioritize teacher well-being and encourage financial assistance to boost classroom materials

  • Focus on, promote and host events that provide a welcoming culture and honor diverse experiences

Maywood Hills PTA 2023 - 2024 Goals

PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. Membership in PTA is open to anyone who supports the PTA mission and wants to be involved and make a difference for the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

This year the Maywood Hills PTA will focus on the following three areas to continue our history of supporting the students, teachers, staff and the surrounding Maywood Hills community.

Enhance Students’ Experiences

The PTA offers a variety of curriculum enhancements; after-school programs, book room support; library volunteers; PE liaison; class commemorative book donations to library; science fair and docents; academic scholarships; art docents and gallery night; Reflections program.  If you’re already a Maywood Hills family, there’s a good chance you and your children have already enjoyed one of these programs.

This year will have a specific focus on the outdoor play experience on campus, including the field and playground.

As always, the PTA cares about our community and we know that students can thrive when they can focus on their education. To help those who might need a little extra support, we offer volunteers for social services such as the breakfast club, emergency preparedness support, and health checks. And scholarships to help access enrichment activities when needed.

Support Teachers and Staff

The PTA uses your support to help fund teacher grants, to supplement their needs in the classroom.  Each teacher receives an amount and we work with them to fulfill their requests.

We provide volunteers in the classroom and you can often find PTA members volunteering in the teacher work room creating worksheets or organizing paperwork for teachers.  We also take pride in showing the staff our appreciation with monthly meals and snacks, usually with a fun theme.  We help create and pack the Back-to-School Kid Mail, support teachers as they manage Field Day and interact directly with the staff liaison on board of directors.

Partner with Families and Community

The Maywood Hills PTA welcomes all families and we value diverse perspectives to help drive the direction of the PTA.  This year we are funding all PTA memberships, so anyone who wants to join can join for free.

The PTA funds and organizes events throughout the school year to bring students, teachers, staff and parents together.  From ice cream socials to first day of school welcomes to holiday events, the PTA is hard at work creating fun social gatherings to enjoy. We also sponsor the family BBQ, help with book fair and the very popular Festival of Cultures.

We will provide a welcoming atmosphere at meetings and provide more “working-parent-friendly” volunteer opportunities.  We work with Staff Liaisons to represent teachers & staff,  provide translation services to Spanish-speaking families, and drive the Watch D.O.G.S. dads on campus program.

The PTA does our best to keep our members up to date.  We have a Facebook Page, a monthly newsletter, our reader board in front of the school and now an Instagram account.  We also offer our members a printed directory to promote communication among families at Maywood Hills.
